Surgical Procedures
Breast augmentation is a popular aesthetic procedure that adds volume to the breasts and provides a fuller appearance.
Breast augmentation is also performed to eliminate this asymmetry problem in cases where one breast is smaller than the other. In this case, silicone prosthesis placement or fat injections can be applied to the smaller breast to obtain a balanced result.
In addition to obtaining a fuller breast with breast implants, a more upright and youthful appearance is achieved as the nipples are repositioned. Especially in women who have given birth, performing breast augmentation with breast lift to prevent volume loss and sagging resulting from pregnancy and breastfeeding provides better results.
In breast augmentation surgery, silicone prostheses and fat transfer to the breast are used. Fat tissue may melt over time and repeated sessions may be required. For this reason, fat injections are used in patients who want minimal growth and to correct asymmetries. Silicone implants are generally used in breast augmentation procedures. These implants have various diameters and volumes. It is necessary to evaluate each patient’s wishes, body shape, and health history to help determine the implant size and surgical technique that will provide optimal results after surgery.
For breast enlargement, prostheses covered with silicone and containing a cohesive, that is, semi-fluid gel, are used. Prostheses filled with physiological saline are also used in limited areas and on the patient. Dentures can be divided into rough and smooth according to their surface, round and anatomical (drop) according to their shape. The shape and surface we choose varies with our patient’s body structure, skin quality and expectations.
Many methods have been described for the placement of breast prostheses. These include the fold under the breast, the area around the nipple, and the armpit. All of these techniques have advantages and disadvantages compared to each other. Which method is chosen depends on the type of prosthesis used and the expectations of our patient. Special planning is made for each patient.
Patients who smoke should stop using tobacco products at least 3-4 weeks before surgery. It is also necessary to stop taking anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications about a month before breast augmentation surgery. You can continue normal exercise and daily routines until the time of surgery.
Breast augmentation surgery is a surgery performed under general anesthesia. First of all, a detailed examination is performed and it is decided which breast augmentation procedure will be performed. Then, a series of tests are performed along with blood tests to determine whether there is any obstacle to surgery.
Breast augmentation surgery generally takes 1-2 hours. However, this period may increase depending on the type of procedure to be applied. For example, if a breast lift procedure is required along with breast enlargement, this period will naturally extend.
Post-operative recovery time may be different for each patient. However, most patients recover enough to resume daily activities within about a week.
