What Is Lower Eyelid Aesthetics?
While upper eyelid aesthetics aims to achieve a younger appearance by lifting the drooping eyelid skin, upper eyelid aesthetics is performed to eliminate eye bags and tighten loose skin. These processes can be done separately or simultaneously.

How Is Lower Eyelid Aesthetics Performed?
Lower eyelid surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, but since it can be more uncomfortable than upper eyelid surgery, it is likely to be performed under general anesthesia. During this surgery, an incision is made just below the lower lash line or behind the eyelid. The fat tissue that causes swelling is removed and in some cases the loose skin is tightened to achieve the desired appearance.
Thanks to Dr. Sultan Yalçın’s approach to lower eyelid surgeries, long-lasting results can be achieved. Dr. Sultan Yalçın expresses this approach as follows: “As we age, our face tends to lose its existing fat tissue. For this reason, the removal of the tissue causing swelling under custody gives immediate results, but is not very effective in the long run. Instead, it is possible to obtain longer lasting aesthetic results with lower complications by repositioning the existing tissue.”
In lower eyelid surgeries, especially in patients with weak eyelids, the support muscles of the eyelids may need to be tightened.
Since smoking and alcohol have negative effects on the skin, it is recommended to stop using it 3 weeks before the procedure. Also, you should not wear make-up before the surgery.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are taking any medications.
This process is completed in about half an hour, but depending on the condition of the patient’s eyelids, the process may take up to 1 hour when supportive stitches are required.
Since local anesthesia is applied in lower eyelid surgery, the only pain you will feel during the procedure is caused by the anesthesia needle. Pain that will be felt after the surgery is minimized with painkillers.
It is normal to experience bruising and swelling in the first week after eyelid surgery. Although most of the patients return to their social life after a week, it will be useful to plan to rest for about two weeks.
If you wear contact lenses, you should stay away from them for at least two weeks after surgery. Touching or pulling on the area near the incisions can increase the risk of infection.
