Liposuction (Fat Removal)

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is the name given to the process of removing excess fat tissues from the body with vacuum. This procedure aims at regional slimming rather than weight loss.

What are the causes of body fat?

Over time, depending on unhealthy nutrition, inactivity, pregnancy, genetic structure and gender, fat appears in your body. After a while, no matter how much you diet and exercise, the fat you can’t get rid of starts to bother you. In men, fat is generally concentrated in the lower abdomen, while in women it is concentrated in the abdomen and hip areas.

How is Liposuction Done, What Are Its Advantages?

Liposuction can be performed with general anesthesia. Your doctor makes one or more small holes in the area to be treated and injects a mixture of saline (salt water) and local anesthesia. This injected fluid causes the fat to swell, harden and become easier to remove. Then, the fat tissue is accessed by entering the cannula through the same incision. The broken fats are pulled out by vacuum.

Liposuction is the fastest way to permanently destroy stubborn fat tissues. A very large amount of fat tissue can be removed in a single session. Additionally, if there are other areas of your body that you want to add fullness (such as the breast), these fats can be transferred to that area to bring your body into the shape you desire.

What should be taken into consideration before liposuction surgery?

It takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on the amount of fat to be removed.

After liposuction, scars will form where the incision was made. These scars are small and become indistinct over time, taking on skin color. In addition, after surgery, a scar care program is applied to ensure that recovery is healthy and rapid.
